It Won't Be Over Anytime Soon

Tomorrow is election day in the US. Those who have not already voted will go to the polls. Some who have already voted will go to the polls again. Some who aren't citizens will go to the polls. Some who aren't citizens will go to the polls several times.

US elections are no different than anywhere else in the world. They are rife with fraud and in many cases the results are already determined long before the polls open. Jerrymandering precludes one party or the other from success. Bribery and corruption tilt the results in some places. Voter ignorance and apathy compound the problem.

We get the same result every time. The same politicians are elected. The same ideologues are promoted. The same parties hold power.

Someone once said doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. In a country like the US, this is so very true. We elect Democrats and are unhappy with the results so we elect Republicans and are unhappy with the results so we elect Democrats and are unhappy with the results so we elect Republicans and are unhappy with the results so we elect.... You get the idea. We never seem to learn that there really is no difference between the two. They are alike in all the ways that make a difference: economy, foreign policy, national security. They differ only in the social issues they use to manipulate us, issues that affect a small number of people but are blown out of proportion so that everyone feels part of the problem.

Worst of all, they have us convinced that there is no escape from this cycle. If we try to vote outside the box, they berate and deride us as unpatriotic or unfeeling, racist or bigoted, ignorant and selfish. Sanity is looked on as bizarre and perverse.

Tomorrow's elections, when Hillary wins, won't change anything. If Donald wins (and that would be a huge surprise), it won't change anything. Life will go on as it always has. The presidents don't change things. People do. What the presidents and politicians do is manipulate and steer public opinion through the media to get what they want done. That way they can avoid culpability for failure without fear of retribution or claim credit for success.

This is the last entry for this blog. I find that trying to comment on the political and social scene in America has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I cannot stomach it any longer.

Good luck, America. You're gonna need it.

Taking the Fall

It's perfectly obvious to me, and probably to anyone with a thinking brain, that FBI Director Comey is taking the fall for a decision made by US Attorney Lynch. He's not trying to hide anything. He's admitted the truth. And he's catching all the flak. But I don't blame him.

Three days after the "coincidental" meeting between Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch, the FBI decides that, in spite of the fact there was misconduct and reckless handling of classified information by Hillary Clinton and her State Department, there would be no charges filed against her.

How stupid to they think we are?

Politicians aren't even trying to hide their corruption any more. The masks are off. Both Republicans and Democrats have given up covering over their corruption. Trump spouts idiocy and hate. Clinton lies and get away with it. Everybody knows this. And still, they're on the campaign trail....

...for leader of the FREE WORLD? What the hell does that even mean, "free world"? Nothing any more.

Maybe it never has and we're just now realizing it.

Idiocy on Parade

They're being called heroes by the media. They're using a tactic previously never seen in the House. A sit-in by Democrat representatives in protest of a non-passage of a gun control bill.

This is so incredibly embarrassing as an American I have no words to express it.

The Democrats are literally having a temper tantrum. The bill they want passed was going to allow anyone who was simply under suspicion of being dangerous from buying a gun. There would be no due process, no way to rebut the situation. If you were merely accused of being a possible collaborator with a faction unpopular with the US government, you would not be allowed to purchase a weapon. No proof was required. The mere fact you might be a problem was sufficient to have you placed on the list.

This is exactly the kind of guilty before innocent verdict the Constitution was drafted to prevent. How can anyone championing such a bill be considered a hero?

Worse yet, the Republicans in the House were willing to go along with this -- with the proviso that there be a channel for rebuttal and defense. And that's when the Democrats pitched their fit. They called the Republican action "obstruction" and accused the Republicans of not wanting to pass the bill.

When did debate and compromise stop being part of the political process? We have too many radicals on both sides of the aisle anymore. Congress has become a circus that the clowns have taken charge.

Idiots and fools running the country. Morons and criminals running for highest office. Makes you wonder who is really behind all this. Surely it's not the American people.

Are we really that stupid?

Are You Understanding Yet?

Trump speaks out against free speech. He bans the Washington Post from his own speeches because they exercised free speech. He wants to ban foreigners from entering the country because they might exercise free speech while they're here. Meanwhile, Obama bitches about Trump exercising free speech. Hillary complains about Trump exercising free speech. The media whines about Trump exercising free speech.

Confused?

Free speech is a guaranteed right. No matter how stupid, offensive, atrocious, or infantile your speech, it is protected by the US Constitution. But, as has been pointed out, just because you have the right to free speech doesn't excuse you abusing that right.

Yes, you can insult people. Yes, you can even shout "Fire!" in a crowded theater. Common sense and civility says not to, but morons will anyway.

What a choice.

Speechless

I have been so stunned by the fact that Trump has received the need delegates to be selected as the GOP candidate for president that I have been unable to bring myself to comment until now, afraid I would vent my frustration and disbelief in words and charges against his supporters that would be construed (rightly) as derogatory.

I used to think of myself as a Republican because it claimed to be the party of the conservative, of intelligence and compassion, of helping people get educated and employed, of not just giving them a fish but teaching them to fish.

"I didn't leave the Democrat Party. The party left me." That comment was made by both Ronald Reagan and Sheldon G. Adelson. I find myself saying the same about the Republican Party now.

I am a man without a party. I find there are no major political parties who share my views on politics any longer. The Democrat Party is the party of government dependence and the Republican Party is the party of government oppression. Even the appearance of benevolent despotism is falling by the wayside.

The US government has become so self-involved that it doesn't care anything about its people any longer. It is totally focused on elections and re-elections. The checks and balances system of the US Constitution is a thing of the past. There aren't three branches of government any longer. Judges legislate from the bench, the President legislates by edict, and Congress is irrelevant. We are long past the point our forefathers would have revolted. We are in the area the German people found themselves in 1930. Massive debt. A weak, ineffective legal system. Rife corruption in every public office. Falling purchasing power. Increasing civil unrest.

Is it any wonder a charismatic, unfeeling, blustering egomaniac should find himself so popular with the rank and file? Or that a populist outsider appealing to the naive but idealistic young should find himself shadowing the presumptive candidate all the way to the convention?

I sincerely fear for the future of this nation as never before.

The Real Origins of WW III

Everybody is concerned about Iran getting a nuke. They talk incessantly about the Middle East and the Muslim immigrants flooding into Europe. Nobody seems to be looking at the real threat.

For the last several years, China has been extending its influence into the South China Sea, even going as far as to build an island with an airfield off the coast of the Philippines. It's called Woody Island and China has gone so far as to use an old map to say they have the right to claim the majority of the South China Sea as theirs.

Woody Island

Their main objective with this is to isolate Taiwan to force its reunification and to claim the oil under the area as theirs since their economic health is fading. They need to control the shipping and oil production offshore to beef it up. They've already threatened to take action against anyone violating their claimed zone of influence, including the US.

Wars happen more often because of economic pressure than ideological difference. The Middle East situation was old before WWI. It will continue for centuries and probably won't develop into anything worse than border skirmishes. China, on the other hand, has a long history of war for the sake of land and economy. They have expanded their political influence as far as they can without running up against some serious opposition from Russia or the US.

There a storm brewing in the Far East and nobody over here is watching. It will be a surprise when it finally blows. An ugly, lethal, nuclear surprise.

You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet

If you think the chaos at the Democrat convention in Nevada was bad, just wait until the Republican convention in Cleveland. There might have been a lot of yelling and (maybe) one fight in Nevada. If Trump doesn't get the nomination, there's likely to be gunfire.

He's got some enemies in the (R)eactionary camp. And some friends in the (D)espot camp. There are those who would rather vote for him than Hillary, and some who would rather vote for Hillary than him.

This year's presidential race is an embarrassing farce for America, but the worst part about it is that most Americans don't know that. These are the kinds of people we have to chose from for president:

Corruption and lies in politics -- it used to be a joke. Now they don't even take the time to hide it anymore.

It's Come to the Triarii

What's left for America? The foxes are in charge of the henhouse. Congress can give itself raises, make laws that it can exempt itself from, and basically pander to the largest bidder. The legal system is rife with little godlings who believe they are not only above the law themselves, but they can change law from the bench. The executive branch believes it can ignore everything and just make things happen by edict.

It's time the adults got back in charge. The kids and teenagers have been in charge long enough. When you can run a country by giving them candy and treats, or when they can change things by simply pitching a tantrum, it's time for those who understand the seriousness of consequences to take over.

The Roman army consisted of three lines. Hastati, the youngest and least experienced, were in front. Principes, the veterans, were behind them. Those two usually swapped out in battle, giving each other a break. At the rear were the elite, the oldest and most experienced -- the triarii. When things got their worst, the triarii stepped in and saved the battle. Usually this never had to happen.

But now, the front line has collapsed. The second line is falling apart.

It's come to the triarii to take charge.

Past Time for a Third Party

Now that the difference between the R and the D have been demonstrated as negligible, perhaps America will wake up to the truth and start talking a third alternative that isn't just something mentioned in local newspapers and short-circulation newsletters. Few Americans know there are other parties fielding candidates for US President. There are over forty (40) people -- Libertarian, Constitutional, Veterans Party, Socialist, Transhumanist, Reform, Independent -- running for office. Do you hear anything about them from the vaunted US media? Even the so-called "new media"? They're just as bad. Find out more about them here and realize you really do have a choice, no matter what the media wants you to think.

The day of the third party is here. The stranglehold that the Reactionary party and Despot Party have had on the American public is slipping the more we know about them and their inner workings.

At last America is waking up -- all but the trolls and brainwashed.

America's Horrible Choice

It's down to the wire and we've finally hit the bottom of the barrel. We have a choice between a megalomanical clown and a cold fish of an unprosecuted criminal. The choice has inspired a host of memes.

... and that's just a sample. What do these memes say about the American public? That not all of us have lost all our common sense. There are actually people who see through the smoke and mirrors, who aren't fooled by the media crap and are appalled by the place America is in right now.

Maybe there is some hope for America. Maybe not now, maybe not tomorrow, but someday... I hope it'll be in my lifetime.
